About Chelsea
Chelsea Whitaker is a photographer, writer, creative director, and so much more. Having photographed the Grand Rapids music scene since 2017, with a brief hiatus during their time in Tucson, Arizona in 2018, they spent that period growing and learning about the industry, honing their skills. Upon returning to Michigan in 2022, they immediately began working with Local Spins, writing and photographing, diving headfirst into the scene. In 2023 alone, they captured over a hundred concerts and half a dozen festivals.
Since their return, they have actively sought growth and exploration within the industry. This has included co-producing the Sounds of the Zoo music festival for its first two years, judging the New Moon Songwriting Challenge in 2023, and most recently, venturing into show production. Since the summer of 2024, they have dedicated themselves to learning light design and direction at the Pyramid Scheme, while also gaining valuable experience in full-scale production at GLC Live at 20 Monroe.
Constantly learning and evolving as an artist, they are always seeking new opportunities, with hopes of embarking on a tour in 2025.
“Creating art, as authentically as possible. Open to wherever that may lead.”
